On June 13, 2018, the thirteenth “Long Night of Science” of the University Hospital and the School of Medicine of the Saarland University took place in Homburg. All interested parties were able to gain insights into teaching, research and health care in about 100 different stations. The COMM also presented itself with an information desk and various participatory offers. For example, the visitors were able to isolate the genetic material from bananas and apply samples to agarose gels. Twice the COMM invited its guests for ice cream, which was produced fresh with liquid nitrogen i.a. by the COMM director, Prof. Martin van der Laan.

Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften 2018
Am 13. Juni 2018 fand die dreizehnte Lange Nacht der Wissenschaft des Universitätsklinikums und der Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität des Saarlandes auf dem Campus Homburg statt. Interessierte konnten in über 100 Stationen Einblicke in Lehre, Forschung und Krankenversorgung gewinnen. Auch das KOMM präsentierte sich mit einem Info-Stand und verschiedenenen Mitmach-Angeboten. So konnten die Besucher z.B. das Erbgut aus Bananen isolieren und Proben auf Agarose-Gele auftragen. Zweimal lud das KOMM seine Gäste zum Eisessen ein, wobei das Eis ganz frisch und eigenhändig u.a. von der KOMM-Leitung, Prof. Martin van der Laan, mit flüssigem Stickstoff hergestellt wurde.
