Even when times are difficult, there are moments when you can simply be happy: Today, the construction work for the Preclinical Centre for Molecular Signal Processing (PZMS) finally began with the start of the excavation work. The first excavators are rolling and opening up the area between the Center for Integrative Physiology & Molecular Medicine and the Institute for Forensic Medicine on the campus of the Medical School of the Saarland University in Homburg. The Saarland and the Federal Republic of Germany are jointly providing the necessary financial means for this conceptually groundbreaking interdisciplinary research centre. The PZMS will sustainably advance the biomedical research landscape in Homburg and fundamentally change the national and international visibility of the location by bundling creative forces and innovative research approaches. Auch in schwierigen Zeit gibt es Momente, an denen man sich einfach freuen darf: Heute haben endlich die Bauarbeiten für das Präklinische Zentrum für Molekulare Signalverarbeitung (PZMS) mit dem Start des Erdaushubs begonnen. Die ersten Bagger rollen und erschließen das Gelände zwischen dem Zentrum für Integrative Physiologie & Molekulare Medizin und dem Institut für Rechtsmedizin auf dem Campus der Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität des Saarlandes in Homburg. Das PZMS wird als konzeptionell wegweisendes interdisziplinäres Forschungszentrum, für dessen Realisierung das Saarland und die Bundesrepublik Deutschland gemeinsam die notwendigen finanziellen Mittel zur Verfügung stellen, die biomedizinische Forschungslandschaft in Homburg nachhaltig voran bringen und die nationale und internationale Sichtbarkeit des Standorts durch die Bündelung kreativer Kräfte und innovativer Forschungsansätze tiefgreifend verändern.
